Javelina and wild hogs are not the same. On average, javelina get no taller than knee high on an adult human. They are vegetarians, usually hang out in small family groups and, in the past, have been used for food by many in South Texas. Frequently there is a limit on hunting them.

Wild Hogs are omnivorous and have only humans as an enemy. They can weigh over 300 pounds. The female may bear 3 litters a year with 8-10 in a litter. There are no limits on hunting wild hogs and their meat is lean after the outer layer of fat is removed.
